Japanese trading house Sumitomo Corp. has taken on five partners for its smart city project in Hanoi, taking advantage of their infrastructure, technology, and other know-how for development efforts kicking off in fiscal 2021, according to Nikkei Asia Review.

According to the 2019 audited consolidated financial statements, the Revenue from sales of goods and provision of services reached over VND3,339 billion which marking 11 times higher than 2018. In addition, Net profit after tax also reached nearly VND511 billion, posting the growth rate of 17% compared to 2018. Main contribution to this better business performance came from real estate business which accounted for 89% of total revenue(VND2,883 billion).

Over one-third of Becamex IDC's revenue in the first half year 2018 was orginated from associate and joint companies. According to the lasted report from Viet Dragon sercurity corporation, Becamex IDC currently has 22 subsidiaries and associate companies in real estate, industrial investment, education and health. In details, VIETNAM-SINGAPORE INDUSTRIAL PARK J.V. CO.,LTD (code: VSIP), a joint venture company that Becamex IDC owned 49%, accumulated around VND 600-800 billion annually. However, except for VSIP, other associate companies which Becamex IDC invested in, did not record profit.
